Spay/Neuter Recommendations
We recommend all healthy dogs and cats be spayed or neutered by no later than 6 months of age.
Each year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters. Spaying or neutering your pet eliminates the chance for your pet to produce unwanted litters. There are also proven health benefits of spaying or neutering your pet early. For more information about spay or neuter from the American Veterinary Medical Association, click here.
Standards of Surgical Care
Here at Evans Animal Hospital, we know there are inherent risks associated with anesthesia and your pet's health and safety is of utmost importance. All surgeries takes place in our dedicated surgical suite which minimizes the chances of contamination during your pet's procedure. We always recommend a pre-anesthetic bloodwork panel prior to each anesthetic episode, which checks the patient's kidney and liver function prior to anesthesia. We also recommend placing an IV catheter prior to anesthesia, which allows your pet to receive IV fluids during surgery and also provides an emergency port should the need arise. While under anesthesia, each patient's is placed on a heart and respiratory monitor and observed by Dr. Roseberry's surgical assistant. When you bring your pet for surgery, you can rest assured we will treat your pet as if it were one of our own!
