Pharmacy
To better serve our clients and their pets, we have an on-site pharmacy which stocks a wide assortment of medications and parasiticides for your pet. Although we are not able to stock every product available for your pets. we are able to prescribe products which we do not carry here in the clinic. We have our own on-line pharmacy which stocks a majority of the products available to your pet. If your pet needs a medication that we do not carry here in the clinic, please speak with a member of our team and we can send you a link to order it on our online pharmacy. The medications dispensed through our online pharmacy are considered purchased through a veterinary chain and therefore carry the same warranty they would have if you would have purchased them in clinic. Please read our prescription policy in its entirety--we do not approve requests for prescriptions through big box stores or online pharmaceutical warehouses like Chewy or 800-petmeds as their products are not considered purchased through a veterinary chain and void of any warranty.
Written Prescription Policy
It has always been our practice to provide clients with a written prescription upon request provided the medication is appropriate for your pet’s condition. Per Georgia pharmacy law, a bonafide doctor-patient relationship must be established and maintained in order for a prescription to be issued to your pet. We will continue to provide written prescriptions for your pet’s medication free of charge; however, we do want to inform you of some changes to our current prescription policy.
Effective immediately, our hospital will no longer respond to fax or phone prescription authorizations to any of the online pharmaceutical warehouses (i.e. Chewy.com, 800 Petmeds, etc). If you wish to use one of these sources for your pet’s medication, we will now provide you with a hand-written prescription which you can submit to the pharmacy of your choice.
We have thoughtfully changed our current policy for the following reasons:
Our goal is always to help your pets live a happier and healthier life. We make every effort to keep the cost of our medications comparable to these companies to help you keep your pet healthy in a more affordable manner. Many of the products we sell in the clinic come with an incentive from the manufacturer (i.e. online rebates) which makes them very close in price. We fully realize the expense involved in caring for your pet and we hope we are able to help you make better and more informed decisions regarding your pet’s health. If you wish to continue to get your pet’s medication from an unauthorized source, please allow 1-2 business days for your written prescription to be ready for pick up. We are also able to mail the prescription to your home address, if requested.
If you wish to use a veterinary product which is not stocked in our on-site pharmacy but still have peace of mind to know that your pet’s health is not at risk, we are able to send you a link to our own online pharmacy. The medications purchased from our online pharmacy come directly from the manufacturer, are considered purchased through a veterinary chain, and are guaranteed by the manufacturer. For this reason, we are able to submit your prescription electronically and you will not have to pick up a hand-written prescription.

We have thoughtfully changed our current policy for the following reasons:
- The manufacturers of the products we prescribe to our patients have informed us that they do not sell their products to these internet warehouses or to human pharmacies such as Walmart or Costco. These products are obtained by these pharmacies through a process called diversion where an individual buys product in bulk and sells them to these warehouses or retailers for a quick profit. Product manufacturer guarantees on a product obtained in this manner is considered null and void if not purchased through a veterinarian. In addition, we cannot and do not warrant or guarantee, in any respect, the products you receive from any pharmacy outside of our own. While we recognize that diversion is not necessarily illegal, we do feel it unethical as it eliminates the veterinarian’s ability to know whether your pet’s medication has been stored and handled properly which may affect the safety and efficacy of the product.
- We firmly believe we are most qualified to dispense and educate our clients about the medications we prescribe for your pets. Most of the online pharmacy warehouses or human pharmacies are not trained in veterinary pharmacology, adverse reactions, side effects, or administration of veterinary specific medications.
- It has come to our attention that some of these internet pharmacies have been cited for fraud, illegal distribution of drugs, and even selling misbranded/counterfeit products.
